Adsense placement for maximum effect

A lot of people new to using adsense ask wheres the best place to put adsense ad blocks to get the best results.

There has been many discussions online regarding this but the general concensus is that the main area to place your primary ad block is above the fold and to the top left hand corner of your web page, just beneath your header image. The fold is the lower edge of your web browser when first visiting your web page.

This is the area where a new visitor to your site tends to look and puts the ad block immediately in their view.
